The importance of this teaching has largely been ignored, or replaced by the marketing of high – tech training routines, machines, so called “secrets” and other dubious training protocols.
The importance of weight training consistency
However, the truth is that even the most intimate knowledge of weight training, and its application to build strength and size, is worthless without the inner drive and personal motivation to apply it consistently.
This is hardly profound, and may sound obvious, but without weight training consistency the other factors are redundant.
Understand that application and consistency is everything, and without it you are doomed to failure in your endeavours.
You can have the best workout schedule in existence, the most intelligent dietary approach, and the most complete understanding of muscle growth, but without the consistency to apply this knowledge, it is worthless.
Those who have the greatest success in gaining muscular size and strength are the same people who are able to continually and systematically apply the most effective training programs on a regularly consistent basis.

The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step and the process of building your body is no different – it is a long haul.
Building strength and muscle is essentially a result of the cumulative effect of many small steps. Each step at first sight may not appear to be particularly significant in the overall scheme of things. Performing one additional repetition in the squat for example may not make a huge difference to your overall results, and neither will consuming a single nutritious meal. However, over the long haul, all of those extra reps you perform and all of those single meals you consume will have a major bearing on your overall success.
If you work hard and effectively, and complete all of your muscle-building workouts in a consistent fashion, month on month, year on year, all of those individual steps will eventually equate to massive gains in overall size and strength.
Conversely one missed workout may not seem significant, but the cumulative effects of missed workouts over time certainly will be. Missing training is easy, we don’t always feel like doing it. Weight training is hard work and its easy to become lazy. We fool ourselves that missing one session wont hurt, but before you know it our progress has been curtailed and we have become despondent.
If this is you, then it helps at these times to keep your goal in mind and visualise it – make its achievement a burning desire.
Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek.
Remember not to neglect the most important component of achieving any training goal – the mind. Mental change always precedes physical change.
Your desire and determination will help ensure that you maintain your weight training consistency. Eventually training will become a lifestyle modification. It will be second nature, and an integral part of your weekly routine .
In the final analysis it is those who are willing to persevere that will succeed.
It is those who are willing to rise above their laziness and procrastination that will end up with the most impressive results.
If they are honest, the majority of people would prefer to be strong, and endowed with a great physique.
If this is the case, why aren’t there more strong and muscular people?
The reason is really quite simple – the majority of people lack the drive and motivation to do what it takes to achieve this.
