There is a huge incentive for fitness and cover models most of whom are sponsored by supplement companies to pretend that their physiques are purely the result of hard training in specific regimes and the use of certain supplements. They state that you can gain muscle naturally if you follow their “best system” and ingest their product.
Unfortunately the ” fake natty crew” as they are known are selling a lie. In order for the average gym trainee to gain muscle naturally to the level displayed by these guys he would have to train hard for many years. This is one of the reasons why the gyms are full in January and empty a few months later, trainees become so despondent they give up.
Ninety nine per cent of the population cannot build physiques of this caliber at such a young age or in so short a time. Only a very rare genetic freak could attain this level of muscularity and conditioning. There is a totally skewed perception among young trainees that physiques such as these are attainable within a fairly short time. It frustrates me that it is so difficult to shift the mindset of these people but to use an old quote from philosopher Osho:
.“The less people know, the more stubbornly they know it.”
Assuming that you are a natural trainee it takes many years of hard work and sustained effort to achieve a muscular physique. Due to genetic factors some people may never achieve a significant increase in muscularity despite their best efforts. Most do not even get close to this level and give up. It requires an incredibly strong and focused mindset, self discipline and sacrifice to attain any significant degree of muscularity and conditioning by natural means.
Therein lies the problem – the athletes that purport to be natural aren’t.
These young men work hard, sure, they optimise their nutrition, ensure they obtain sufficient recuperation between workouts and they are blessed with great genetics. They also all use AAS (anabolic-androgenic steroids) and other compounds to assist them in obtaining and maintaining this level of condition, otherwise it could not be achieved in such a short time. Please do not be fooled into believing otherwise.
Additionally whilst it is physically attainable, getting to single digit levels of body fat naturally usually involves stringent diet planning and lifestyle modifications, alongside the undesired effect of lean tissue loss. To gain muscle naturally whilst maintaining a very lean physique is next to impossible for a natural newbie. You can get lean but you will be small. The levels of self discipline required to maintain this level of condition naturally are very high and the reward is rarely worth the sacrifice.
Supplement companies, fitness models, muscle and health mags and other media are all complicit in selling this myth in order to indoctrinate those wishing to achieve the perfect body quickly and simply. Probably less than 1 per cent of the population could attain the displayed level of muscularity in such a short time by natural means alone, and that’s being generous.
Gain muscle naturally like our cover model and a six pack in 35 days
The mythology works of course. I remember believing it myself long long ago. Newbies sign up or purchase the product or system hoping in vain that it will do for them what it says easily and in a short time – get a 6 pack in 10 weeks (or less) and a physique like our cover model. It conveniently fails to mention the compounds he is using in order to obtain this level of muscularity and conditioning.
This level of muscularity aligned with low body fat cannot be achieved quickly naturally I’m afraid and trainees all find this out eventually. You cant get something for nothing. You will not attain anything near this level of development and condition unless you are prepared to invest years of sustained effort. Of course if you use steroids its a different matter, easier and quicker but there may be a health cost down the line.
This of course is how it should be – your achievements in life will usually be directly related to your investment in time and effort. The benefits of regular strength training are numerous and will positively impact on other aspects of your life, not just physical ones. Your battles in the trenches will also hone character and you will become more adept at meeting life’s challenges.
In conclusion, there are no short cuts to a lean muscular physique without a potential health cost further down the line. You can decide either to make the commitment to health and strength naturally and enjoy the journey, or take the other path, the choice is yours.

I will only rarely recommend products and when I do it will be those which I either use, or have positive evidence of their efficacy.
